A strange memorial to Peace. This was next to a burnt log in a park.

Just a view of some of the area between Tokyo and Mt. Fuji. Interesting that they put rice paddies just about anywhere that they can fit one.

This is my tiny (6 x 9 foot) hotel room in Ueno, an area in the NE part of Tokyo. That's the single bed right behind the door, and the tiny bathroom and shower are to the left. It was only $54 a night though, which is dirt cheap for such a city.

Cool shoes in Ueno Park.

Stevie Wonder on a Japanese beer ad.

These are typical economy apartments. Only about 6 feet wide! You can see the gas and power meters for each apt.

They clean the windows AND the whole rest of the building too. Everything is always squeeky clean.

There are neat umbrella holders outside many buidings (especially banks) so you can leave them outside. Each slot had a little numbered key you could use to lock the handles in.

Bike, scooters, and motorcycles everywhere!

Yes, there are a few homeless people in Japan. But, I never saw any of them begging or bothering anyone, so I'd guess that they get some sort of "welfare" money to at least buy food with.

My tiny fiberglass, one-piece bathroom at the Hotel Alcyone in Ginza.

The tribute statue to Godzilla. It's only three feet tall!!!

This is what a nice burial plot looks like. The graveyards were absolutely beautiful and filled with perfectly kept plants.
